CONCERT & FILM
Bernadette Zeilinger and Diego Mune are a well-traveled duo.
Years ago on their concert tours, they began taking photos and then filming. The resulting combination of their musical and visual work developed through short films with original music into long films, which, through moving intensity, create a characteristic and delightful fusion of image and sound.
The program seen here is made up of two parts.
In the first part, Bernadette Zeilinger and Diego Mune present their own virtuoso music compositions in a concert.
The second part shows a film in which they carried out all the work steps themselves, from the concept, the shoots and the edition to the original music written specifically for it. They also recorded, mixed and mastered the sound. The film was made exclusively with original material and with the intention of being presented exactly after this concert.
Both parts stand side by side equally and are intertwined. They influence and also complete each other. The concert prepares the screening of the film, which builds on what came before and in turn adapts the memory of the concert. The music creates an energy in the room in which the film is immersed, so that in the end the two parts as an inseparable whole allow for an extraordinary aspect of perception and a unique sensory experience that can only be evoked in this way.
An incomparable experience that will be remembered fondly.
About the concert:
With an amazing independence of different voices, Bernadette Zeilinger creates clouds of sounds in movement, provoking real challenges to identify where they are coming from, at which point they start and what spaces they fill. With advanced modern techniques, she builds a counterpoint, which hovers between contemporary and Celtic. You can hear her soft melodies lightly flying in the air.
Diego Mune plays an astonishing number of notes in a very short time with rapidly moving hands and shapes strong, overlapping rhythms through refined interconnected harmonies.
In musical complexity, he forms a variety of sounds and accomplishes tones imitating other instruments.
Warm and heavy, his playing awakens hidden feelings, grounding the listeners; letting them feel their roots.
The deepness of his powerful performance is both marvellous and mystical.
About the film:
A poetic, artistic and musical approach in both sound and image masters a documentary in the form of an art film.
Spontaneous filming of real scenes sets aesthetic accents through a surprising look at details from everyday situations.
The camera's movements go hand in hand with those of the music, paving the way for a greater sense of space. Dynamics, phrases and rhythms supplement and link each other.
